Default How long will an A8 last

Hi guys, i have been commoing here for a while now and i finally have a question of my own. i want to buy an used A8, i dont have a lot of money to spend on it somewhere around 15g's that could get me a nice used 2000 or 2001 model. So i am just wondering how much longer would a 2000 or 2001 A8 with like 90,000 miles on it last if taken care of properly? Thanks

The engine if taken care of properly, using at least a synthetic or top tier oil and changing it often will often lead an audi engine well over 200k without any major piston ring blow by. Just getting the timing belt/water pump done every 80k or so and there is no telling how long the motor will run. I know people with old 100's and V8's that have over 500k on the original engine and they still pull pretty damn hard.

Can the same thing be said for the D3s? I'm in a similar situation (looking for an 05/06) and expect the engine/transmission/drivetrain to be bullit-proof for at least 10 years.

Regards,

Harry

^^^ I can't really say for sure, ive only seen a D3 with just over 100k miles but it seems to be running fine with no problems. As long as you use a good quality synthetic and change the timing belt every 80k there is no telling how long the engine will last. I would say you could easilly get away with 250,000k if treated right.

i know a lot of A8's with more than 400 000 km without some major issues... also D3 with more than 300 000 km running fine and looking like new

as long as the notor's been properly maintained I have heard virtually zero anecdotal evidence of engine failures. My '99 has approx. 160,000 miles, and I expect anothe 160,000, at least

I'm pretty sure the trans will go before the engine, IMO, but that's coming from a noob, so take it for what it's worth. My car has 130k miles on it, runs great still.
