all teh parts, hardware, and such, run about $1500.00 from the stealer...

Better is to check with shokan or dadsauto or some such, weekly, until you come across one.

Until then, DON'T LEAN NO MO!

That happened to me also. At first I used gorrilla glue. It worked OK, but when wife would turn around to speak with back seat occupants, she would squeeze the two together and loosen it. What I used next works better. I used a high performance plastic glue I got from HD. It works like a superglue since it seals quickly. Once I poured it in I took a C clamp and held it together for the night. So far it works great. Haven't tried to move it up or down yet, but it holds my weight fine. If you need the name of the glue let me know an I'll look it up.

Looking at the break, it really doesn't look like metal anyway.

Sorry to take so long,

The JB weld worked well for a while, but, I had the arm rest in the "up" position the other day and took acurve with a bit of spirit to hear a "CLUNK" and see it go tumbling into the rear passenger door, haha.

I'm going to try the other adhesive listed here. Still, the glue held longer than I thought it would.

http://www.solder-it.com/solderpaste.asp

I've only used the silver-bearing type so far to fix a cast bronze electrical clamp thing. I had no hope that it could ever work, but to my shock it worked first try. If the aluminum formula works half as good as the silver solder did, then it's worth a shot..

Also further down that page is a tube of stuff for fixing plastic, which may work well for my cracked front spoiler. - sometimes I show off with the quattro and plowed snow banks take their toll on the cold plastic..

I have the armrest problem too. I have tried JB weld and Gorilla glue, crazy glue and duct tape. I saw on another site a fix with an eye bolt put into the broken arm rest. I am going to attempt it as soon as I get the time. It seems simple enough with the right drill press and tap and die set. I will let you know what happens.
