Blocked A/C water drain

Blocked A/C water drain
This is the second time this has happened on my 2005 A8.
Debris collects in the Air conditioning condensation 'tank' and blocks the drain.
Last time the overflow flooded the electronics and stopped the car.
Audi replaced the electronics and permanently removed the drain plug that issuppose to release under the water pressure - and did not.
This time I assume it is just plain blocked, as water is now dripping on to my feet. Short term solution is to turn off the A/C.
If I knew where to look under the car I would try and poke it loose with a coat hanger.
Anyone had the same problem? - I cannot believe it is unique to me.
Anyone know where the drain outlet is for the A/C on an A*?

RE: Blocked A/C water drain
Deep water in my A/C tray also.
2002 S8
When I first go ignition on, I can hear the swishing and the fan seems to actually splash the water and blow spittle into the cabin.
When making turns, the top of my right foot gets wet.
From the splashing sounds made by the fan(s), I might start with checking under the hood directly behind the center console unless anyone has a better idea.

if you've got watger issues? heres your answer!
remove the passenger footwell carpet.
remove plyboard cover 4 x screws
one screw will release catch attatched to trans tunnel cover.
carefully remove tunnel cover, towards front of car.
once removed you should find an orange/rubber grommet type funnel.
if found! take care... get a suitable recepticle... 4/5 ltrs in size!?!??!?!
hold container under orange grommet and give it a yank.
this is the funnel which you will find blocked....
i had the same problem
i tried all sorts... even a vacuum through the front vents all to no avail!!!
once i discovered the orange funnel....and cleared it out no problems since and no wet gear shifter!!!!
just remember the bucket as i drained about 3ltr onto the carpets?????
hope this helps

RE: Blocked A/C water drain
in addition to the previous ansvers, i would also use some pressure air in both the rubber dingy and the drain whole itself. i had the same problem on both sides and it took me about 2 hours the first time to fix it. be really carefull on the driver-side when removing the side panes, there is a screw holder or what to call it tha breaks very easely. i broke mine...

Yes, several points to emphasize:
- be extra careful when removing the side panels - audipages shows pictures from an earlier vehicle (I broke several plastic retaining points fixing my drain problem)
- make sure you have a catch receptacle for the pent up water buildup
- the entire rubber hose can be removed as it is less than 6 inches or 25 cm in length - just be sure to replace it securely as original
- remember to dry out the floor mats (each side has two that can be removed - the bottom one has foam attached and can trap ALOT of water)
- if your passenger side paperboard cover for the fuse/relay box is soaked (as mine was), be sure to have it replaced as trapped moisture will accelerate corrosion in the electrical compartment(!)
That's it and good luck to all afflicted with this cursed mess. I was very tempted to just cut off the bottoms of the orange tubes but reason prevailed...

RE: Blocked A/C water drain
acctually, i took out the paper cover and replaces it with som proper wood plate that i made. it took me about an hour to saw it out and sand it down to a nice and good looking audi part :P. i also used thin neoprene to work as a gasket between the plastic and the wood. i would recomend doing the same, the smell the paperwood makes is awfull when it have been wet..
