Anyone have a carfax account?

Don't have one now, but have used it extensively and found it be a little helpful at best. While I had an unlimited usage subscription, I checked my own cars (multiple) histories and found major things missing...accidents handled through insurance and certified shops...all on the record but NOT on the carfax. Also major mech repairs done at Audi & VW dealers NOT on the carfax. It should be accurate with title history, but wouldn't trust it for anything else.
"Autocheck" often has records that don't show on carfax, but they ain't perfect either.
If you're counting on it, both may be a good idea to get a more complete history.

Eyeballs work better than carfax does. Search how to identify body repairs on google, there should be many links to train you what to look for. I bought my A4 with a carfax in hand with no accidents on it only to find out later the rear end had been smashed in. I noticed it after taking off the trunk trim and found the inner metal was pushed in. Upon looking at it from the outside, you could see the gap on the trunk was wider on the driver's side than the passenger's. Things like these aren't easy to spot to the un-trained eye, but if you know what to look for you can spot it a mile away.
