1999 A8 Leaves me stranded
I just recently bought a 1999 A8 4.2. Beautiful car with 160K miles on it....(primarliy highway).....On my second day of ownership I took it out on the highway and began to notice irregularities during acceleration (minor bucking, and minor stalling)....I got about 4 miles down the road and then it began to lose power and stalled out. No lights or indicators went off. I was able to pull to the side of the road and was totally unsuccessful at starting it. It would turn over fine however the car would not start. It was as if there were no gas. I did get it towed back to the place of purchase and will work with the mechanic to resolve this issue. However I am curious, as a new memebr of the Audi family, is there a history of fuel pump or other issues that would have caused the episode?.......One other item of note was that, on day 1 of ownership, there appeared to be a smell of raw gasoline under the hood.....The odor is strongest near the windshield of the passenger side....this smell was also somewhat noticable on day 2 as well.....Thank you.
