I just got an estimate of about $6k<\\;img src="\\;https://www.audiforums.com/image/s7.gif"\\;>\\; It needs a left front quarter, new dash and air bags.&\\;nbsp\\; I’m torn as to whether I want to fix it or buy the 2000 GTI GLX that I have the option of for $3,000.&\\;nbsp\\; <\\;br>\\;<\\;br>\\;HXGASER: What parts are you looking for?<\\;br>\\;

It all depends on whether the unit body deformed or whether you just broke off an appendage. You could post pictures of the damage. If the damage is to just the oil filter, and suspension arms, and quater panel then get quotes from www.shokan.comforused ornew parts. Try www.blauparts.com for new suspension parts. Sometimes in accidents, worn ball joints will pop loose. You may only need to replace the broken suspension parts, oil filter, airbags, etc. ,and get an alignment. You should follow the instructions on the Bentley Audi Shop manual CD if you do the work yourself.
Here is an example of what is available for a 1999 A6: http://www.audiworld.com/tech/eng39.shtmlYou have a 1998 A6 sedan, which would be similar. Beware of working without an Audishop manual, which lists the bolt torques and the bolts that must always be replaced, etc.

RE: Wrecked my A6 - Need advice about scraping t or parting out
I ran my A6 into a pole last winter and had over $7000 worth of damage. ran it straight into the pole and bent one frame rail pretty good. I bought the car back from the ins. co. for $1800, invested another $1800 in parts and paint labor and am back on the road.
Had to buy Hood
bumper cover
rad. support
radiator
AC condensor
motor mount
AC line
rebuilt my own bumper
bought a new aftermkt. rad support that was just GARBAGE, returned it and found a oem used one.
The hood they sent me cost $200 and came without a CAPA sticker. I called and complained so he wanted to send me a Pic of one with a CAPA STICKER! I said UMM, no, so they let me have it for $100, and it fits great!
Had the hood and bump cover painted for $372 and it looks good. one paint estimate I got was over $800!
