Default Wind noise!!!!

I have a 1998 A6 Quattro sedan with insulated windows (double glass). On the passenger side the wind noise at 90 or above is deafening, it is present at lower speeds, but barely. It appears the window is not going all the way up. It looks fine, however that is the only conclusion I can come up with. I am hoping there is an adjustment that can be made to window mechanisms to rectify the problem. Anyone else had this problem? I did a search and found nothing. Thank you in advance for ANY help.

I do not have this problem, but recently had to replace the drivers window on our BMW. There we several adjustments that needed to be made including the height. So, having just looked at my Bentley manual, it looks like the Audi is about the same as the BMW. There are felt pads that hold the window, you simply loosen the nuts, re-adjust and tighten. Make sure you do not raise the glass up too far. I did this the first time with the BMW and about 10mins after finishing the job and raising the window, I heard an explosion and found my new window in millions of pieces scattered outside the car. It even threw glass 10 feet away...WOW. My second new drivers side window installation went much smoother.

Best of luck, Jeff

Is your weatherstrip in good condition? I would check that before attempting to take the door apart and adjust the window.

Make sure the seaal is in good shape and lubricated. Also make sure the guides are in good shape. If they are bad, which is known to happen on the 6's, the window may not be tight in the seal causing an air leak.
