My friend has a 2000 S4 with about 105k miles. no mods. Timing belt done 5k miles ago.
She was on her way to work this morning. Said right before she pulled onto the interstate her car was smoking horribly...so she pulls onto the interstate. She was climbing a hill and her top speed was 60. my a6 will pull the same hill in reverse at 60..
Anyways, i dont know much more but i think she may have lost a turbo.
She checked the dipstick and said it was dry. *she changes oil every 5k with 0w40. oh and she also said the oil light never came on..

Maybe a broken oil pan? It would not dump all the oil for a blown turbo, unless the entire impeller went bye-bye.

Put some oil back in it, & run it, see if it makes any noise, or runs rough. You might also want to check for leak, like maybe you blew some coolant.
