Type of Gasoline to Use?

Indeed, lots of people love Vegas and throw their money over there.
Let's see when the gas prices revert to over 4 dollars/gal, and the premium is 60-80 more cents than regular.
For someone who fills up the tank twice/week will be no extra coins for the slot machines...

Would be nice to have the inexpensiveness of regular gas prices. Bu I knew that with the car I'd get (Audi/Merc) it uses premium and had to accept that. I'd never use the regular stuff, ever. Also I ONLY use Chevron or Shell gasolines in my car. Haven't been to a cheap station in a LONG time.
I don't know about you guys but once you have these cars, all I ever look at is premium. And am so used to it I don't mind the difference in prices. It's like I HAVE to use premium, no exceptions. xD

Premium always, I drive a lot city, and with stop and go there is extra load on the motor.
on Highways I would see why not use 89 octane.
for my car, I lose about 20HP using 89 octane over 93 octane. and another 20 or so by using 87 octane.
remember at ~2200RPM that is where the part time throttle is bad. Engine is prone to detonate at that point. Dont ask me why.
I am considering water injection so I could use 87 octane without a problem.

When 89 octane was $ 4.10 months back, 91 octane was anywhere between $ 4.79 and $ 5.05....with BP always having the highest price around.
Even now, BP's around here are 20-30 cents higher than anyone else for the same octane.
The funnier thing is that there are so many cases where a gas station 500 yards from another one charges 15-20 more cents per gallon, although they have the same supplier.
One size fits all does not apply to gas prices...
Also, some people see things only in black and white. There's plenty gray in between, and a whole other spectrum of colors, but deuteranopia may prevent people from perceiving that different and complex spectrum.
I should repeat that I'm not the proponent of using lower octane gas in cars that are recommended to run on premium. Just trying to hypothesize why people may be inclined to use regular does not make me a volens-nolens user of regular gas... Don't shoot the commentator...
If you live in Texas, good for you.

Premium, no matter what. The manual may say different but the gas door says min. 91 octane. And it is a high out put high tech engine. Your car is at least 71 hp/liter, and thats if it is a stock 2.8. As a guess, Im at about 82 hp/liter. That needs high octane fuel. Plus, we tried 87, 89, and 92 in our VW VR6 that we had, a big difference in mpgs between all three.

Ditto! Better stuff, better performance and peace of mind.
