Default Trip fluid change

This was a second time I changed the fluid on a 2003 A6 2.7 - with 5HP19FLA transmission.
less than 66k.

This time w/o filter change.

Drained - 3.8 l

In 4l - Pentosin ATF 1 (smells very fishy, indeed).

The initial fill was 2.5l - then with engine running (gears shifted) another 1.5l were in.

At 42 C plugged the plug.

It seems to me that the fluid gets low over time, w/o leaks, perhaps vaporization as some sources mention. (and so long on the myth of forever young transmissions)

My advice is to check the fluid level, or better - to replace it on regular basis as it's been proven the low level causes many problems.

If fluid changes will secure longer transmission life is to be proven.
At least one does whatever one can - the rest is in the hands of the Audi gods.

(the post should be named Tip not Trip, sorry)
