The cheapest and easiest fix for any 3.0 CVT is a tree at 40. FWIW, I have no idea where the switch is but I would guess it would be under the shifter or on the transmission. You own a bentley?

I looked through my bentley manual quickly and it looks like the switch is on the transmission. I didn't actually see any reference to it, but I didn't find it listed in the tear-down of the shifter assembly so I assume it must be on the transmission.

Given you have the infamous 3.0 CVT, who knows where it might actually be. JK

And yes, save yourself years of regret now and drive your A6 into a tree. The A6 is a fantastic car, average reliability for a luxury car and average amongst it's competitors. There are only 2 things to avoid when buying an A6, the 1st being the 3.0 engine, and the second being the CVT transmission. Since you have them both....well...I don't condone insurance fraud....but...

Well honestly the 3.0 isn't all that bad, it's really just the CVT which is bad. The 3.0l alone doesn't ruin the car.
