Default Tranny Probs

Having some tranny probs on my 99 2.8 quattro..having hiccups when i drive it, press the gas and it jerks..While driving changes gears as high as 5000rpms..I think its a tranny fluid problem but i just want to be sure..Any help would be appreciated

Replace the fluid, than come back if it does not help. There is nothing to be sure about, have your ever had your fluid changed?

Yes try changing the fluids!

Just had my tranny fluid changed at 74K, my trans guy said it looked like MOTOR OIL it was so dirty, car shifts much better now.

yes try fluid first... they say tranny fluid is lifetime... but its not, should be flushed every 75k or earlier... if fluid is low... look for broken seals

Audi fluid looks like motor oil when clean as well.
Any way, 74k is way over the life time. Actually transmission fluid should be stored for no more then 3 years, that's what is says on the bottle. So, it it goes bad just by sitting, what's going on while it's used inside the car? Some people like to change this stuff at 20k regulary, also brake fluid and antifreeze every 2 years. And I'm one of them.

yes change fluids... tranny fluids are not lifetime.. .should be changed at 75k or less

thanks guys it seems that the problem was a small leak in the fluid hose...Gradually spilling it all out i guess...getting the fluid replaced and the hole fixed tomorrow..thanks for your help!
