Your car does not have traction control; however, it has permanent quattro.

Quattro and ESP (Traction control) are two different things that work toward the same goal... better traction. There are many different versions of the quattro and esps. You can wiki it for full descriptions. But simply put, quattro refers to all wheel drive system that Audi has and traction control is electronically operated stability control that senses wheel spin, steering angle, and etc to minimize lose of traction. 2 work in conjunction with one another.

So to answer your question, having both quattro and esp will be the "safest" option.

Some people prefer not having traction control so that they can "hoon" their car. Some claim that they drive faster with the traction control off, but it is my opinion that most of us, including myself, are better off with the traction control on. It just feels like you are driving faster because you hear the tires loosing grip.

I have timed my car with traction control on and off and really only notice a change from the launch. You will notice no change through out mid gear. HXgaser another great answer.. The man is a book I tell u

I noticed the same thing at the launch. As far as other driving I don't notice a difference. I just hear bad stories about the two fighting each other in snow/ice road conditions. Guess I'll find out this winter.

Yup, they say to actually turn off the ESP in heavy snow, unless your car specifically has a snow mode.
