both! how do i get the fan off? the four bolts wont go anywhere no matter how hard I try and I dont wanna ruin the thread and the big nut in the back just turns and turns and nothing happens. I cant figure out how to remove it.

The chop stick tool that you are referring to is called an adjustable spanner. I guess you can vice grip the shaft and turn the reverse nut with a wrench, but I am not sure whether there is enough clearance for a vice grip. You can buy one cheap especially online.

I loosen the fan bolt as follows: With the serpentine belt still in place to put friction on the fan, place the spanner on the fan bolt and give the spanner a slight blow (clock wise) with a hammer. The "shock" usually loosens the fan quite easily.

the 4 bolts for the fan weren't too bad for me, so i didn't have to try to loosen the back nut with it on. with it off i stuck a 3 or 4mm allen key in one of the slots so it would get stuck while turning. Then i used a big adjustable wrench to loosen. (you are aware that you loosen the back nut turning clockwise right?)

yes i know it has a reverse thread. but nothing is still working for me. the allen bolts must be really tight because im practically ruining the thread. i put wd40 on it to try and loosen it and get it a little lubed but still nothing. i also broke something inside that (pulley) is it? i stuck a screw driver through the fan holes into the thing behing it and some peices of metal broke off inside and fell down. idk. ughh!
