I have a 2001 A6 with 4.2. I took it in for wheel alignment, the front and rear toe were off. The mechanic said the tie rod ends adjusters were Seized and since they have rubber inside the tie rod itself, he is not able to heat them up, they both need replacing (inner and outer). I have never heard of rubber filed tie rod ends. Has anyone had any experience like this and do they really have rubber inside them? any comment on this are appreciated.
