I have the 2.8 and it's pretty solid from what I've read. I also believe that the 2.7 is a strong runner, but the turbo's WILL require replacing at some point.

I didn't read a whole bunch of your post, frankly after seeing the price I stopped. I wouldn't pay more than $5-6k for a 2000 2.8

Heck, I'd ship you mine for that much

From what I've read you guys are going to hate me for saying this...buuuut...

At 17, I got a 95 A6. It was an amazing deal and I knew it was for me. You don't need to be an adult to know what your doing. I turned around and made a profit on it. Got myself a 98 A6 (which is extremely similar to the 2000). It was an amazing car. Never kicked myself for buying it. It did get a little pricey, especially on a high school salary but it was great. I've driven both the A4 and A6 and I would with out a doubt go with the A6. Get that 4.2 /\ if you can, the performance is worth the decline in gas mileage

PS: sold the A6 and picked up a TT. If you can find a deal on one of those, it would be best haha

--3 Audis before i turn 19, living the life.

LOL....Nobody hates anybody, here.

Besides, the points made weren't about the "battle of the ages". You'll have to read again and maybe you'll understand what the cautions were all about.

a 2000 2.7t is for sure worth more than the 2.8, granted only if it already had a timing belt replacement! 7k and higher is good for a 2000

"Living beyond your means" was the homework. Show me, please, where exactly you acknowledged that. However, I can take a guess:

- Was it "Never kicked myself for buying it"? - No, it can't be...
- Was it "It did get a little pricey"? - Hmm, close but not really describing a living beyond the means situation...
- Was it "The performance is worth the decline in gas mileage"? - Nah, that has nothing in common whatsoever with a living beyond your means situation...

By the way, did the government (federal or local) actually pay you a SALARY to attend high school?
I wish I would have had that opportunity and luck some years back.
