Default Sunroof Stuck Open due to jump starting battery...

Please tell me how to disconnect and reconnect battery of 97 A6 so that the sunroof will close. It opened when I had to jumpstart the battery recently.
And now it won't close. Thanks.

I doubt it will close if you disconnect, but it's just to locate the battery (either under the bonnet, under the back seat or besides the spare wheel), and unscrew/disconnect the ground clamp (black wire) for 30 minutes or so.

There are a emergency close feature for the sun-roof, usually a hex-screw behind the cover where the switch is located. READ the manual....

Make sure you have the radio code...
Might have to check the fuses for the roof...

Try turning the key off
then putting the switch in the current top position
Then turning the key on
and switch to close.

If that dosen't work get a raincoat

If you don't like rain coats you'll have to do the crank thing

2 different ways... If you are possibly concerned with the radio code, then use the method #2.

1) Disconnect the battery. Turn the sunroof control to close position. Pull out the sunroof control panel and use an allen key to turn the sunroof motor back to the closed position manually. Reconnect the battery and you are good.

2) Instead of disconnecting the battery, disconnect the electrical connector to the sunroof motor behind the sunroof control panel. Everything else is the same as the procedure #1.

The manual on my 2001 Avant indicates that you open up the trailing edge of the overhead courtesy light (the large lens) with a flat tip screwdriver. Then you use a hex tip handle to close the sunroof. What the manual doesn't tell is where said handle is stashed, presumably by the Audi factory. However, it should be clipped to the lens fixture. If you can't find the handle, then an appropriate allen wrench should work. I haven't tried to find it though.

The allen handle should be clipped right on the back of the sunroof motor cover
