Strange wine sound when heat is on
Hello, I have a strange problem. When my A6 warms up and I start to pump the heat into the cabin, it will start to make a high pitched wine sound. It only makes the sound when I have the heat level at 1 bar up to 4 bars. But if I put the heat level above the 4th bar it stops the sound. Anyone have any idea whats going on here?

I had/have the same problem when I was home and driving the car. I noticed when the blower was on around 70F, but just circulating air because it was warm in the car, it would begin to whine like you are saying. If it dropped below the desired temperature the blower would start pumping warm air out and the whining would stop. Once it reached the desire temp again it would circulate and start whining again.
Maybe this is happening to you as it was me.

Like caddy2audi says, it's probably the blower motor end bearings, known to make more noises as the outside temp drops. The blower is behind the glove box, remove this to get access, several write-ups about oiling them to quiet them, for a while. Replacement of the blower is not overly expensive and easily DIY.

found it... may be worth trying to clean it before you replace it.... just dont assemble the glove box and run it for a couple of days and see what comes of it.... looks really easy to do.
