Default Reverse Sensor / Door Sensor

Just wanted to know if it is possible to check the reverse sensor. When I go in reverse my car beeps consistently for 10-12 seconds. It's really annoying. Also, My driver side door doesn't recognize when it's opened.. I guess the sensor there is messed up. Can anyone tell me where it is? Is it possible for me to look at it?

Thanks!

1. By beeping when you shift into reverse, what do you mean?
2. The door sensor that you are looking for is located in the latch mechanism. The latch mechanism is the part on the edge of the door and hooks it closed when you shut it. This is a fairly common problem with these cars. It should not be hard for you to look at it yourself, just search "how to remove door latch."

Check the sensors in your rear bumper and see if they are dirty or damaged. I personally don't have the backup warning sensors but it sounds like you do.

sammy121. When I put the car in reverse it beeps once like it's telling me it went into reverse and then it is a long consistent beep. like beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep for about 10 seconds. it's really annoying. However.. if i go from reverse to drive then back to reverse there is not initial beep and no long beep. I'll check my door sensors and I've tried to check the reverse sensors for dirt or damage but they look okay.

You have access to a vag-com? I know NOTHING about the reverse warning system as my car does not have it. But maybe it is diagnosable via vag-com. You have your owners manual? Does it mention how the reverse warning system works?

You probably need a new door latch (very common) to solve your door issue.

I just got it back from Audi last week and they ran a diag on the car and said that the only code coming up was one for a pin hole leak in a tube on the top of the gas tank. whole different issue. but they didn't say anything about it beeping and I didn't have them check anything. Just the work they did was expensive enough.
