Default Rear brake pads and rotors

hi guys
today i went to the dealer with my a6 for a oil change and
had them check my brakes because they were squeelin alot.
so they come back after an hour and a half, and the guys says to me,
that the rear brakes pads and rotors need to be replaced and its gonna cost,
600 dollars... i was wondering if it would cost less to go to a regular mechanic, or
if i should just do it at the dealer... any tips?

hell no!!!

I just changed the front ones in 20 mins. Dont pay that much! the rotors are not more than $30 each (average one) and the pads are about that too

Yeah, that seem extremely high! About a month after buying my '01 A6 2.8Q, it needed new brakes. Dealer quote was a "bend over and grab your ankles", so I took it to a local brake specialist. For $500, got new rear rotors, rear pads, front pads, and turned front rotors. I'm looking into tacling more of this stuff myself. Best bet is to find a good local mechanic specializing in Audis, Bimmer, Benz, etc.
