question about valve cover gaskets

question about valve cover gaskets
I just bought a 2000 A6 2.7T that has 90K miles. Overall, the car was maintained fairly well - regular oil changes and typical service. I am getting ready to replace the valve cover gaskets on it as well asthe suction pump (which I'm pretty sure caused the vlave cover leak) and spark plugs.
While I have that much apart is there anything else I should consider replacing?
A "buyer's check" @ the local stealership revealed that my secondary air pump is weak?
Also, what is the general concensus on oil? @ 90K should I go synthetic or is there a certain weight/ viscosityI should go with?
Thanks for the input.

RE: question about valve cover gaskets
very dubious ( secondary air pump weak?? ) now how do they make this decision ( have they done tests on the engine?? ) if so what was the results.
could it be your rocker cover gasket bolts need nipping up like 8lb-ft

RE: question about valve cover gaskets
Thanks for the info...any other items come to mind please let me know. This is not a job that I want to repeat if I can keep from it.
I've got the Bentley's manual on it's way so knowing where the rocker cover bolts are located will definately help.
Thanks again.

RE: question about valve cover gaskets
Do a search on www.audiworld.com for replacing camchain tensioner gaskets. They are notorious for leaking.
