quattro not working?

The tires are almost new snow tires with steel studs.
Just talked to some guy at Audi and he said they are just crappy. Even with quattro it will be stuck if one wheel is spinning.
So nothing wrong with the car, just extremely poor 4x4 system :-/
Next car: Grand Cherokee with ARB air lockers

From 95 up to your model and up to 06, the A6 used a Gen IV AWD system comprised of a center torque sensing diff and open diffs front and rear that use traction control through the ABS to transfer torque from spinning wheels. The Center diff can transfer up to 75% of the available torque from front to rear depending on which axle has the most traction. Individual wheels are controlled by the ABS by automaticallty applying the brake of any wheel that is spinning. If yours has spinning wheels that don't stop, your Electronic Diff Lock (EDL) is not working. The center Torsen diff may or may not be working as well, you will have to have it tested to find out for sure.
