Popping noise in Steering Column
[:@] Alright, I need help. About a year ago my wife and i got into an accident and completly damaged the passenger front side. Lately, i have been getting the popping noise coming from the steering column. When i turn the steering when the car is in park, i put my hand on the tie rod end on the driver side and i can feel the popping, but i dont think it is the tie rod end. Also, when i jacked the car up, i noticed that the boot on the tie rod end is not clamped on. the boot is not torn, it looks like the clamp came off. My question is, could it be the rack and pinion causing the noise? I hope it is just the tie rod ends. Also, i have never heard of a rack and pinion making popping noise's. When it stops raining here, i am going to check the control arm ball joints and see if they are bad, but i am pretty sure they are not. Please if any one has any hints on this, please help as the popping noise is getting really bad on bumpy roads. sounds horrible.
