Default Plugs and Wires?

Hi All, Need some prof. opinions. I was told that I need both new plugs and wires...due to a P0432. I pulled a P0432 (Main catalyst below Threshold-Bank 2). Is Bank 2 code right or left side? How do you know if the wires are bad? Could you change the plugs and not the wires? Wires look good!

What year? How many miles since the last tune-up?
P0432 could be bad O2 sensor bad cat or need of tune up.

You can't tell about wires by just looking at them.

9years oldand 87 K miles = maybe time for a plug and wire change

P0432 = main cat could need replaceingbut it might be a bad sensor

Rattle could be cat guts
I would
1. change the plugs and wires and do a reset
2. If the light comes back on look at the senors
3. finally sell first born and do the cat.

Sell the first born, and the car, then buy the cat!

Seriously, follow NH_USA's direction. Do tune up first. If the codes come back, check for 02 sensors. If they are okay, then it is your cat. BTW, bank 2 is the driver side.

LOL! Thanks for the advice. I could sell, but why? I like the car and no payments...maybe we'll change the wires and reset, see what happens. Just had the Cat replaced for the left side (driver's side) and hoping it's not the right Catthat is causing the new rattle sound.

Its the cat. That code requires the cat to be replaced. You can try tune ups etc but it will come back after a couple hundred miles. To check your wires to see if they are shorting out or bad, get warm water in a spray bottle and mix about a tablespoon of salt with it and shake it then spray it on the wires while the car is running. If the plugs are bad or shorting out you will see them ground out when the salt water gets on them.
