TB, did your mechanic do a power flush with a machine or a straight drain? how many liters or quarts of juice did it take (what was the part num of the fluid?) Also, how did he check the transmission fluid level? And finally..
What was the cost the job not counting materials?

He did a drain and fill. He used the gravity fill method. The car took 7 liters, of Pentosin ATF1 available at www.rmeuropean.com. Search for bmw 335I transmission fluid. Labour was 89 bucks.

Default About AT fluid for 2004 A6 3.0 engine

I am planing to change transmission fluid. I called local dealer and was told my AT is CVT type transmission which has no filter and non-service type transmission.

My question is: Is it a good idea to remove the pan and clean it up inside or is not necessary?

Please give me your thoughts. Thanks.

There is no such thing as a "non-service" cvt transmission. If your trans is really CVT then pentosin makes a fluid for you, but its not
ATF 1. Buy 7 liters of it, and flush away! if you have up to 100K miles, then you might want to just replace the whole pan and filter. check on the website I posted for the pan.

Default 04 A6, 3.0 CVT transmission fluid

Yes, it's CVT transmission for sure. Dealer's price is $24/liter. So trying to find a cheaper one. Dealer only gave me Audi p.n 18082.

Very interesting. I called Pentosin. A lady over there is very nice. She took sometime to get back to me and told me Pentosin does not have AT fluids for CVT transmission.

There is another manufacturer, Febi. I am not sure how's fluid. Or I have to go to dealer.
