im guessing u have an older audi? mine has this, i have a 95, and if u ask ur parents, or remember ur self (depending how old u r) the first car phones where pretty much the size of a house portable now a days with the buttons/screen to make calls on the outside, and they would connect right into the car at that phone jack, if u open ur arm rest, that little grey (grey in my car) square at the front of the arm rest on the inside is the cradle for the phone

lol a bag phone wouldnt fit in this like u said those fockers were huge, too big to fit in the arm rest, heres a link to 1 from the 80s, this is what would fit in the arm rest - the mount its on, all that u would do, is take the phone itself, and its wire (duh lol) and run the wire outside the arm rest (theres a hole for it) into that jack, and there u go, u have a car phone http://cgi.ebay.com/1980s-VINTAGE-MO...3286.m63.l1177

kinda makes me want to go out and get one just for the hell of it lol...that way when friends get in the car i can be like...look what i got lol

Page 132 (i think) in my 1999 Audi A6 Owner's manual:

And closer:

And sort of the VP-in-the-backseat deal (and probably why it locks like it does);

Check the trunk for a very long spool of telephone cable.

Anyone out there have one of these that still works? I have everything there still, from the phone in the console to the antana in the rear glass. I know the old bag phones worked much better in the country and being we are in nothern MI and it has a hands free mode it maybe worth hooking up for us. Will the cell companies let you use one?

Thanks
