No Sound from radio until car warms up
Having an interesting issue that popped up last weekend when it was cold (less than 15 degrees) and the car is parked overnight outside. There is no sound from my radio/nav/phone/etc. until the car warms up to the middle of the gauge - and only after I turn off the car, lock the doors and walk out of range of the key fob. When I come back and start the car, all is good again.
I have an appointment next Monday to take it to the dealer (under warranty), but was wondering if anyone here had ideas.
2005 A6 4.2
Thanks!

Same problem
Gtpr73, I had the same problem for 3 days in a row (all were very cold nights) in the last 2 weeks. I have an 05- A6 3.2 and the only difference is when I started the car static sound and beeps were blasting through the speakers rotating from speaker to speaker (like a sourround sound test of some kind) for about 5-10 seconds and then nothing at all (Nav, Voice, Radio were dead) until the car warmed up and I shut it off walked away and came back to start it. I was worried the static was so loud it may blow my speakers but I could not turn down/off the volume even when I shut the Nav and muted the radio. Called my dealer and asked if anyone has complained about a similiar issue and he said he has not heard of this but to bring it in for a scan (have not made it in yet), would like to hear what your diagnosis was.

maybe a contact somewhere has condensation on it or something that gets frozen, and doesnt make contact until it melts. i know i have a similar issue with the horn on my car. refuses to work when the car is cold, but when the interior warms up, it works fine. i was told it was due to that. go figure..

Update - the dealer replaced 2 switches in the center console today. Apparently the car had 1 or 2 open circuit faults that sent or removed power from various modules. It's not supposed to be very cold for the next few days, so it may take a couple weeks to see if it happens again.

well came out of work tonight. -5 degrees F. YES Milwaukee, Wi. Radio did the exact same thing static through speakers, then noise from speaker to speaker to speaker. Then I couldn't control the radio, turned it off and still had super loud static. Thought for sure I blew the speakers. Im hoping when I wake up tomorrow and try, it works. Sitting in a heated garage. 2005 A6 3.2. WORST car I have ever owned. NEVER will buy an Audi again. I have numerous posts with numerous problems. Just stuck 3500 in front end, brakes, rotors, shocks. Car is garbage. Want my 1990 300E 4matic back, soooooooo bad. Does anyone know how to find a car that was traded in 6 years ago? Dont have a VIN number and dealer has no record of it?

A8l with audio static, 20066
Cold temps in last 2 weeks caused same static noise. First time noise came from rear right speaker. Today's event creates static in left front speaker. This car is full of surprises. Trunk opener gone bad. Squeezing noise in front. New brakes shimmy at high speed braking. Noise from left side of drivers side on dash. Not sure I can take much more. Ride and features are 2nd to none. Can't handle the repair frequency and cost.
