my head unit crapped out on me and the stereo shop in town said the only way to put an aftermarket head unit in it's place would be to rewire the whole system, 10 speaker BOSE stereo out, new speakers in, this doesn't make much sense to me. any one else have this problem with the BOSE system. thanks

 

thats bs, tell them to stop ****** u around. im getting a new HU put in, Kenwood double din 8017 touch screen. im using all my stock bose speakers. they need to be rewired to ur new hu, if ur not running amps. if u have amps for ur highs, they would need to be rewired to the amps. there is no reason to replace stock bose speakers unless they blew on u. i would recommend using a small amp to power ur highs. it would be alot easier to hook up an aftermarket HU to an amp, and run highs off there. i dont think the stock bose amp will work with an aftermarket HU, and runnin all 12 speakers (2 in trunk) off the deck mite not sound the greatest.

my 2000 a6 2.7t w/bose required no rewiring whatsoever just a hard to find "amplified vw harness" every single speaker and the factory sub work just fine. the only thing you need is a deck with 2 pair of rca output (which is most everything $150 and up)

 

BS. They are trying to rip you off. All you need is the wiring harness and your good to go.
