new 01 a6 2.7t
well im in my 2nd day with my new (new to me anyways) a6 2.7t. it has 38k on it. it seems to run very smooth, a slight hesitation and then vrooom, from start.
i traded in my 96 lexus sc300 5spd. it was hard to give up but my wife and i needed a sedan.
i really love the car so far. i did purchase a extended warranty for it. anyone heard of quality gaurd? it seems to cover most everything including turbos.
any advice for ownership or expectations i should be aware of? what can i do myself and what NEEDS to be done at audi.
also any tips for the forums and how to navaigate? i have been searching around here for about 2 weeks and found a wealth of info.
what about performance mods, thinking of chipping, tbb, dv and H sways so far, also debating on clearing the corners (using the audiworld clearing for dummies).
thanks for all the help, also i live in dfw, tx. where should i search around for other enthusiasts?

Welcome!
Best way to learn about your Audi is to search these forums for what's already here. You can learn a ton by posting questions, but much of what you'll likely ask has already been asked and answered. As such, always do a search before posting a question. At most, you'll find your question has already been answered. At the least, you may pick up some background to help refine your question.
Another good resource to be aware of is Stoney's Links -- the ultimate A6 resource. Check my signature for the URL.
Good luck and happy reading.
P.S. Go for the H-sports first. GREAT upgrade. If you do not have the OEM sport suspension, do new shocks & springs or coilovers next. Then you can think about chipping. Add a new set of wheels before chipping as well. My $.02.

Welcome to Audi!!
I got a 2001 A6 2.7T in Nov 2005 and I love it!!! Haven't done too many things to it yet, but also thinking about suspension mods, specifically sway bars and lower shocks and springs. I have so far integrated my ipod into the car - was cheap and easy to do myself, let me know if you need more info - I'll email you some links and instructions. I didn't see if you have a manual or tip tranny. I hear that the only 2.7Ts worth chipping are stick ones because tip tranny may go from all that extra torque and hp you're gonna put through it. If you know this, let me know if it makes sense to chip a tiptronic - which is what I have - to about 315 horses. To be honest, the only time I felt underpowered in my car is when I raced this 911 C4S on a highway (it beat the crap out of me LOL). Other than that, not even 'stangs match up on the street.
as for the upgrades, try asking this guy via email: http://www.audichicago.org/ridedetail.php?id=243
(also pretty cool looking A6)
good luck

i dont see how a stock 2.7t could even come close to cars like an STI, newer Cobra, LS1's. i just dont see how your car stock can run anyware near a 13 or even 14's. someome 03' to 04 cobras are running twelves stock. LS1's stock are very low 13's. now if you have a good amount of mods maybe. but i guess the cars could have been parked?

I'm not disagreeing that on a track those cars will make me look like I'm parked, just saying that I haven't yet seen cars on the street that run with me. By the time the cobra guy gets his traction back, I'll be sipping latte at the starbucks 10 blocks away - fact! 01A4T, are you an Audi owner or an advacate for the big 3? LOL but come to thick of it, I did race an Evo the other day and it gave me a good deal of competition.
