Issues with DEBADGING

RE: Issues with DEBADGING
I would recommend dental floss as oppose to fishing line. The dental floss with the wax coating will help it pass underneath the badge. If you are afraid of a heat gun, go with a hair dryer, they work the best. You will burn your fingers on this, but it is the way to do it. Hold the hair dryer about 4 inches away from the badge, as you heat the badge up, start to wiggle the badge from side to side with your fingers and thumb. You will notice it will start to move easily as it heats up. Once you reach this point, drop your hair dryer, grab your dental floss and move the dental floss from side to side like a saw. You should pass through it fairly easy. Once debadged, leave the area alone and let it cool down. This is where people really mess up. They will remove the badge and sometimes they overheat the area. Then they right away grab the Goo-Gone and start rubbing the adhesive thats left behind, before you know it, the clear coat and paint are on your rags!!!! Let the area cool. Once it is, you can saturate the left behind adhesive, remove it and you ready for polishing! I recommend a buffer but good terry cloth towels will work. I used 3m fine cut compound, 3m swirl remover (light or dark) depending on your color and finish with 3M pure caranuba. You should have a clean smooth rear end. I will post some pics if you need to see a finished product! Good Luck!
