Common Misconception about HID
The higher you go in color (Kelvin) the lower you go with light output (Lumens) You have a 2001 which has a smaller projector than the 2003's and up. This is what is layman terms "curves" the light to change color. Depending on the angle you can see it change form bright white, to blue to purple and back. 4300 is the best light output period. You can adjust the range with VAG-COM. Remeber, they are self levelling anyways, so I don't know how much good that will do. If you want a darker color effect, simply upgrade to the Bi-Xenons found in 2003 and higher. Do the swap and your HID's will look much more blue but still be using the 4300K bulbs. When choosing bulbs online, remember that the best is built by either Phillips or Orsram...anything else is import junk and you will be wasting your $$. A bulb by itself cost upwards of $200 a peice. You want a cool look....stick with your 4300..upgrade to bi-xenon..then slap in Triple Plasma 55watt PIAA in the fog ligts (H3) and they match the headlamps perfectly..Turns out to be really sharp. Lots of light and looks very modern.
