hum/whine from trans tail bearing
Hi guys....I don't post often, but I do read the posts and it seems there is some good knowledge here.
My 2008 A6 Quattro has a whine/hum from the transmission tail shaft bearing. Has anyone does this repair? Does the tail section have to be removed to remove bearing? Looks like it to me. Remove tail section, press out old, press in new. Am I over-simplifying it?
At first I thought it was a wheel bearing, but when I put on lift and run at 25mph, all wheels silent. I listened to tail shaft and it is noisy. And yes, it did trigger all warning lights. I had to reset all systems with vag-com when done, but at least I know what that noise is now.
Thanks,
Bob
