RE: how to remove center console wood?
it has two large cracks in the finish. not uncommon in wood trim such as this. I happen to work at a custom woodworking shop so its pretty simple for me lol. If you have scratches in it you can try removing the wood, wet sanding, or compounding it. If you have any questions about refinishing feel free to ask.

Check out this post from the other week, from my brushed shift bezel mod:
A6 shift surround/bezel removal
Just pry up from the trailing edge of the shift surround and it should just pop up. Then slide rearward from under the ashtray and voila!

Oh ok, well what kind of compound should I use, it has luster but has swirl marks. So I would think something light in cut right, any recomendations on something that can be picked up at the store.

if the marks are real heavy you might want to start with a heavy duty compound. if they are real heavy i would go with 3m super duty compound then 3m rubbing compound after the super duty. make sure to keep track of how deep your going with the super duty as it has a fairly heavy cut. if the swirl marks are not so heavy. just the 3m rubbing compound would do. I recommend removing the would first so yo ucan get every area.
