Replaced my rear rotors/pad a couple of months ago. Parts came from NAPA, 19.00 per rotor and 26.00 for pads with AAA discount.

You didn't mention your mileage. My guess on the rough idle, based on my experience, is a bad coil pack. Word of mouth is the best way to find a reputable shop to service your car if you don't have the time to do the repairs yourself. Just take it to a shop familiar with Audi's. Dealers are OK if you can afford their prices, otherwise.

Brake work done by my indie shop July 07: replaced rear rotors with Centrex, turned front rotors (not normally done, but I requested it and there is a slight pulse to them), and replaced all pads with low dust. Total was $520 OTD.

Next time, I will definitely replace the front rotors (may go with drilled if I can find some for a reasonable price) and probably the rears as well. I do a lot of highway driving and have 59k miles on these pads.

PP - warped rotor CAN cause pulsation and vibration when the brakes are not applied - the warpage pushes the pads back and forth and causes the pulsation -

as for snow and rain causing the warpage - not likely -- it is overheating of the metal and uneven stress relieving -sometimes it is caused by areas of very hot disks being cooled at different rates due to the pads retaining heat. When racing the rotor sometimes get red hot and we always allow them to cool by driving slowely so the pads doin't cause the hot spots.
