how do I get my 4.2 to sound mean as hell?
I was surfing youtube last night and came across some video's of people with 4.2's that sounded mean. Deep thoated exhaust that was loud but sounded more like a cobra mustand than an audi. Some of the guys were cutting out the mufflers and going straight back to the tips. Does anyone know if this is a good idea or are there other inexspensive ways to make it sound that awesome?

There is no benefit exept the sound, if u have dual exhaust , you crossing them and you get sound like that, this some video of my exhaust system:

I would suspect the X-pipes either allow the pressure to balance better between the cylinder banks or allow exhaust gas to escape in case one of the pipes gets somehowplugged.
Don't be amazed if, after you rip off the mufflers, your A6 a) doesn't run as well, b) gets worse gas mileage, and c) throws codes. Among other things, mufflers provide backup compression for the engine.
