Help on selecting a Error code electronic reader
Hello
I have basic knowledge on the concept of error code readers for cars - I have used the one that O'Rileys ( one of the local auto shops ) and for free they let you use a reader but from talking to other individuals i have found out that there are different quality of readers - I know there are readers that also let you adjust settings and are really advanced and im not looking for that
I would just like a reader that is going to give me accurate readings and actually be able to read all the error messages
I have a 2002 audi a6 3.0 awd if that matters at all
Thanks for the advice

go to ebay and search for a vag-com usb cable from china
ross-tech.com for freebie software
they make an expensive cable that will allow you to access all the "features" of the software but the cheap cables listed on ebay work with the freeware version.
fair warning- some folks have been unable to get the cheap cables to work with the software or to work adequately.
If you plan on keeping your car for any length of time and want to DIY one of these cables is pretty much a maintenance necessity.
full disclosure-I have one of the licensed/full featured cables and am quite happy with the benefits of ownership. IMHO well worth the extra expense
