hello question about button on inside of car
hello guys i am new here i come from a mitsu forum and my gf has recently gotten a 2.7t 2000 a6. i like it comfy quick luxurious. anyway my question is there are two buttons on the inside of drivers door. one for the trunk. and the other looks like a car with a heater inside it maybe? does anyone know what this does. we just got the car and it didnt come with a manual. is this the right place to post this question also? thanks guys i already read a bunch of the stickies and other posts in this section sounds like this forum is going to be a great help.

Welcome to the forums and hopefully we can bring you over to the dark side and away from Mitsu.
As Alex so polity said, it disables your motion sensor. Since you stated you don't have an owners manual I will try to elaborate its need. The A6 is armed with interior motion sensors that are very sensitive. If you leave your windows down/roof open and someone sticks there hand in the car, the alarm will sound. Unfortunately, a gust of wind will also set off the alarm or a dog left in the car. So whenever I leave my windows cracked or roof open I hit that button on my way out of the car.
If you get more involved with working on her car, I suggest getting a vag-com (google) and you can lower the motion sensors sensitivity.
Best of luck.
Jeff
ps. look below the steering wheel for the manual. There is a little slot for the manual under there. That's where I found mine.
