H1 HID xenon?

H1 HID xenon?
Can I install an H1 HID xenon bulb in H1 slot or do I have to convert it back? The other head already has HID bulb installed. Don't know why the other side would have H! halogen bulb in it, but it does. Bought used[]

RE: H1 HID xenon?
I guess u can if its got the ignitor and plug etc for the HID, other wise i can only say the head lite was replaced with a cheaper halogen unit rather than the HID headlight for whatever reason?
Is the car supposed to have HID headlaps out of the factory?

RE: H1 HID xenon?
yes it did come with the xenons out of the factory. it makes me mad because i didn't even notice until the night after i brought it home. would it be expensive to convert it back to the xenon gas discharge?

RE: H1 HID xenon?
At the min all i can say from wat i u have told me is dumb d**k has got a halogen bulb mostly likely a H7 instead of a the HID bulb
Ok wat u have to do is check that u have got the ballast and ignitor system for the HID bulb ware the halgon is (HID will not work with out it), the HID bulb will slot in providing u have the correct headlite housing
Wat u can do is have a lot at the park No. of the head lamp (ussually on top some ware) and give u local Audi dealer parts dept a ring with the part No. and find out if u had the is rite head lamp to start off with. Its something i could help u with if i saw it in person - but thats another thing.
Then if u do u can go from there and plug a HID bulb in
Now with the ballast and ignitor for the HID, if u dont know wat u are lookin for have a look at the other side that has one and open up the cover for the HID and check out the wiring and associated parts (be very careful as the voltage is very high for HIDs and can kill! - i think u are supossed to diconnect the battery if working on HIDs just in case: refer owners manula) and then have a look at the other side a see if its all there and just tucked away and not connected.
People have been know to steal the HID headlamps from our cars as they are very expensine to buy
With replacing the HID ignitor and ballast if not already there it is not chaep if u go with genuine parts, let me know if this is the case there are other alternatives
I dont think the connection/plug for the H7 halogen and HID is the same, u can check by pullin the one out the other side and trying
Cheers mate i hope i have confussed u some more

RE: H1 HID xenon?
where can i check to see if ballasts and ignitor are still there? it's actually an h1 bulb in there. the wiring looks different also. i wish i could tell if the original wires are just tucked away. do they come off of the battery? this is freakin frusterating!
