Audi A6 The mid-sized Audi A6 model offers more room to the driver and passengers over the A4 line.

Is this a good deal? 01 A6 2.7t w/86k for $9500?

Hmmm... well in that regard, an 03 for $500 more that sounds just a meticulous with records, doesn't sound like such a bad deal... regardless, I think I'll let em sweat it until I get back. Lets see how badly they want to sell it 2 days from year end.

Keep in mind that business/fiscal end of year is not always Dec 31st.

Also prices vary greatly based on geographic location.

Well I got her. And i'm happy. She's got a couple of extremely minor things I want to take care of right away, but here was what I ended up with.

2001 Audi A6 2.7T Quattro in Santorin Blue PL Effect (pretty remarkable color in the right light) with 18" BBS wheels. It has the Sport Package, which I believe means it has improved suspension and sport seats (I could be wrong). It has 108,XXX miles and it in excellent condition. The previous owner gave me his entire service record (2" thick manila folder) outlining all preventative maintenance done on the vehicle since 0 miles (1 owner). He also threw in his Yakima Rook rack and skii rails. I paid $8000 cash and am quite happy with that. I picker her up last night and my wife drove it home, while I drove the Mustang. She pulled up to me at a stop light and gave me the "lets go" signal (lol), so we ran them. I was quite impressed. The Mustang took it hands down, but I kind of lolly-gagged at first and quickly realized it was no joke and just in it fully to pull away. For this being our third vehicle for snowy days... I'm getting the feeling that I'll be driving it on more occasions that that!

As for the couple of things I want to do, I noticed that the third )rear window) brake light looks like it has about 8-10 bulbs horizontally and 2 of them are out. Are these easily replaced? I looks a little ghetto with the 2 random bulbs out.

Also, in perusing the owners manual last night, I read that the horn is supposed to honk when the car is adequately secured. On mine the lights just flash. Do you know if you can turn that function on/off, or if I have some sort of failure here?

Well, I look forward to absorbing more of your knowledge and doing a little modding as well.

I'll get some pics up later (if any one wants).

Cheers, JR

Congratulations on becoming the owner of a great car. I just read the whole thread and would have gone with the 2003 as they made some improvements to the turbo oil feed, but as you can see I am prejudiced. You will find it fantastic in the snow.

Winter package includes headlight washers, ski boot, and heated rear seats (I believe). My headlight washers failed and I disconnected them about 2 years ago to stop the leaking. They only work when the lights are on and dump a lot of windshield washer fluid.

These are not fast cars off the line, even when chipped. They're not slow either, just too heavy and with the quattro overhead to be a runner. But all winter I pass those "fast" cars piddling along at 30mph as I zip by at 50+.
