Going to look at a 2.7t tomorrow
Guy says hes took good care of it. Shouldn't be to hard to tell once I get there but I have one simple concern. Over the phone I asked him if any lights like the CEL is on and he said no. But in the picture with it looking like its idling i saw a light but it was in the spedo area and not in the tac area. Its a long *** haul to his house and I was wondering where the CEL is located on the 2002 a6 2.7t cause on my a4 its in the tac area. Thanks and sorry for the stupid question and might just be a gas light lmao.

Great! Try and drive the car for 10-15 miles then vag it for codes or if you forget take it to autozone for a scan. Is it auto?

Yes it was an auto, but it was a good enough price to put up with it I guess. Well long story short I didn't end up getting it. When we first got there I was super excited, just like he described it looks clean, then after actually starting to look at it, both driver and passenger side door had rust bubbling just above the trim piece on the bottom of the door and the rear passenger side wheel above where it flares out a little was really wavy where it hit something and they beat it out didn't look terrible but with the sun on it it stood out. Then the big deal breaker, started it no engine lights must have been a older picture when it looked that it had a light on but anyhow it idled fine then I got around to the front of the car and smelled some coolant and I looked down and it was about 3 inches below the min line but it was filled with the green coolant from like a auto zone not with g12. After that point I called off the deal, wish I actually took it for a test drive, haven't got to drive a 2.7t yet so yeah im pretty bummed right now. Two hour drive and nothing to show for. The rust and dent sucks because he told me it was perfect inside and out but I could have lived with that and got that fixed but there's no telling what running that green coolant has done to it. I guess the only other question is that does the a6 2.7t common for rusting out under the passenger and drivers door just above the trim piece? Thanks for the help and the search continues!!

as far as the rust thing i have seen many a6's and and none of them have rust. now, rust is possible if the car has been driven in snow because of the salted roads.
the 2.7, the engine is a beast! im sure once you get to drive it you will love it and find out why people love it so much, especially once the car hits 3k rpm. if its possible find one with the sports package. the suspension is stiffer, the car is an inch lower and handles a bit better. also comes with 17'' rims and thicker tires. and 02 is when they redesigned the car to have a face lift and visible dual exhaust and other nice changes.
dont give up keep searching you will find the right 2.7. dont rush into things unless you have no other means of transportation. it took me 2 months but i found my 2.7 with low miles and everything i wanted. glad i didnt settle for the 3.0 or the pre-facelifed 01 2.7 good luck keep us updated!

Unfortunately, after a lot of MI winter driving and 203k miles, I do have a slight bit of rust on the inside bottom corner of my driver door as well as a patch of paint just under that strip at the door edge that keeps coming off. I retouch it up each spring. Otherwise it has been remarkably rust free.
