Default Folding Mirror Issue

Hey all,

Wondering if anybody has some insight regarding my folding mirror. It closes and opens, but it goes past the point it should and opens way too far. So, the motor works, but whatever mechanism is supposed to tell it to stop is failing. This is only happening on the drivers side, passenger side functions normally.
Any input appreciated.

Default Folding Mirror problem

I have exactly the same problem with my 2003 A6. Did you ever get it figured out?

I never even knew the A6 had power folding mirrors. Hmm Just a guess, but try posting this question on the A8 forum. They more than likely have run into this issue more often as more of their cars came with power folding mirrors.

If you don't mind, would you take a picture of your mirror adjustment ****? I'm really curious to see what it looks like.

The power folding mirrors were only for 2002+, earlier model years did not ahve the pwoer folding mirrors. You'd know by looking at the mirror ****, which would ahve a small hash mark at the 6:00 position for folding.

As far as the issues with the mirror coming out too far, I had the same issue, and got it replaced under warranty several years ago. I am not sure exactly what was wrong, but my guess was the bump stop on the pivot was worn/broken which triggers to motor to stop.
