Drained 4 liters from tranny and added 3
2003 2.7 A6
So I drained my tranny pan and changed the filter. I added about 2.7 liters and started it up....went through the gears and added another .3 liters.
Then after it was up to temp, I drained about .1 liter.
THE PROBLEM:
I originally drained about 4 liters of dirty ATF and only added 3.
Now my tranny is slipping and shifting strangely.
I am thinking of adding another liter through the drain plug. (Carefully.)
My car was not having problems before this "service".
HELP.

Get the Bently manual for your vehicle and follow the procedure for filling the trans fluid. There is a detailed procedure that has to be followed that inclides a specific temperature etc.
You'll also need VAGCom -- do a VAGCom search on this forum to see the details
Audis are not like other vehicles.

It is impossible on a C4 to fill the pan through the drain plug, and I doubt the C5s have much different setup (one drain hole - at the BOTTOM, and one fill plug - higher, to the side)

^^ I do believe you fill from the bottom and there's a tube going up so only so much fluid is held...
hottubbrad: If you took 4 out, at least that much goes back in.. Theres a fella here call 'jackmup' that went through the same thing on a 3.0... As of right now, I would get a helper, place the car up on stands, crawl under, undo the plug and fill as much as I could while the engine was not running.. then have your helper start the car, then pump in enough to make it to 4 liters total (ie; adding one more) while the helper shifts through the gears slowly. By the time he shifts through all the gears you should have the fluid in. The time it takes him to shift through all the gears is also the approximate time it takes the tranny to warm and fluid to start coming out, so be quick about getting that fluid in
Dont drive around low on fluid, that 'slipping and shifting strangely' is due to the low fluid and will burn up the tranny.
