Do I need brake pads ?
My A6 sits in the garage a lot. My wife only drives it about 500 miles a month. This morning is the second time I noticed that the brake pad symbol came on on the display. Coult it be because the car sits a lot and the rotors and pads get a bit rusty? The last time it did it the warning sign went away after I stop a few times and shut the car off. If I need pads, how difficult of a job is it, and any special tools needed for the job on this particular make ?

RE: Do I need brake pads ?
I just asked a similar question. I hear you need to take of the wheel, then there are some bolts on the back of the caliper that need to be removed. Then you remove the caliper and just sort of pull the pads out. When you put new ones in you need a tool that does somthing? not sure what exactly you need it for, but it sets it back in place. then you put the caliper and wheel on and your done.
