Default Dash wiring harness removal

I'm in need of a senior member with alot of experience to give me advice with a burnt dash wiring harness, like; how hard is it to remove, what years/types fit. i'm mechanicaly savy but just need to know which years fit and if the harness is seperate from the engine harness.

You seem to have forgotten to mention the year, engine, transmission, etc.
Try the www.vacat.com catalog, however note that vagcat is for the european Audi, so the engines will not be the same as for USA/Canada Audi.

Well i managed to get everything ELSE correct!!
The car is a 2001 a6 4.2 quattro 4 spoke steering wheel.
Thank you for the info, i'll give it a shot.

Its basically the same as any other car: the wiring harness behind the dash has parts that go to the engine harness and parts that don't. The hard work is getting the dash out, which is just a matter of unscrewing about a million screws. Take lots of pictures as you disassemble and bag each set of screws with a label saying where it goes and a print of a picture of where it goes. But, you will have to get the dash off to find the exact harness that is burnt to find out which one to replace.
