Default Dash and Tail lights not working. please help.

Car having the problem is a---1993 AUDI 90 CS QUATTRO V6 2.8L 5-SPEED.

ok so last knight when i was backing up into my garage i didn't see the white lights turn on so i got out and saw that only the two corner lights work so i opened the trunk and took a look at the wires that run into the trunk lid and moved them around then the reverse white lights came on and the rest of the red lights came on as well, but as soon as i let go they turn off again.

and since i was messing around with the tail lights now my dash lights don't work. like for the speedometer, rev meter, gas, water temp etc. and the gas gauge stopped working properly it has a full tank of gas and it reads empty

please help....im sure many of you have experienced similar problems and im new to the AUDI.

It sounds like you have some loose connections, but you may have blown a fuse in the process. Start by checking your fuses.

On my 1995 C4 the fuse box is located at the end on the dashboard on the driver side. Probably you have it located in the same spot.
There are a few more fuses in the relay box (indeed under the hood - bottom of the windshield, driver side), but I can't remember if those 5 or 6 are related at all to the lights.

The original sticker has a 19 city/24 highway mpg estimate. The revised new governmental estimate is 17/23, so I'm assuming this old POS (like Jackmup says) is right on par at 23.9 mpg.
Does your 90 CS have 5-speed tranny? This A6 has only 4-speed.

Edit: LOL, I just realized I'm blind. You already specified that in your original post.... The extra-gear gets you that better mileage!
