Default Cv boot replacement

I just noticed that I was washing my wheels everyday for a week straight. Didn't understand it at first. After lying on my back installer a new muffler on my girlfriends car I looked over at my car particularly at my wheels and was like holy sh^t! I quickly jacked up the car and pulled the wheel to see a torn boot. That explains the dirty wheels. (Car has 56,000) I just ordered and recieved a boot kit from ECS. Both front outers.

I was wondering if anybodycould shoot me a link to a detailed pictorial and a possiblewalk through on replacing the front outer boots. I saw one posted and was hoping to get as much info as possible.

If I feel overwhelmed, my first time at this,I will probably take it to an indy. How much could I expect to pay an indy for front boot replacement if I already have the kit?

Thanks
Eric

This repair can be easy, or hard. It all depends on how easily the pinch bolt comes out of your car. You will need some special tools to do the job. These links should help you decide if you want to do the job yourself, or not. You'll pay an indy about $250 to fo the job.

I did my own and now I'll do another one because I'm over the learning curve. I was lucky as the pinch bolt popped right out.

Good luck.

Oh man, are you in for a treat. I replaced the CV boot on my A4 in the spring and it was a bitch. I did not get the pinch bolt out and then while hammering the outer CV back onto the shaft, I forced a bearing out of the inner CV joint so then I had to remove the whole thing. Now that I've done it once and cursed the heavens, I feel like this will be an easier task the next time.....but I hope there is never a next time.
