Default coolant leak 2000 a6 2.7t

Hi, i have a 2000 a6 2.7t with 78000 miles on it. The car sat for a while after being driven and when I went to turn it back on the red coolant light was on. I immediately shut it off and went and looked under the car and there was a big puddle of coolant underneath. The tank went completely empty, so I put more coolant in and started it up, but I could see it dripping and we had it towed in. The mechanics put 11 pounds of pressure through the system and only found a slight leak on the auxilury water pump under the intake manifold. It seemed like a lot of coolant was leaking when we brought the car back home. Does anybody have any idea why this might be happening? Has anyone seen the auxilury water pump leak like this?

Could be a pump, the reservoir or any number of lines. No way to tell without digging into it so you might as well plan on replacing the pump then deal with what else you find while you are in there.

the pump is common. its under the intake manifold. Gererally 6.5 hours thru the dealer. Takes about half that.

You can do it yourself. Alot of vacuum lines and breather stuff tends to break due to plastic becoming brittle over the years.

Audi techs are usually acustomed to this a can usually get in and out without breaking anything.

But its not anything extremely complicated

All done. Took 4 hours. The worst part was getting the vacuum line quick connects to disconnect. But, it did not look like the pump was leaking, just the hose at the pump. I installed the new pump anyway and sprayed the inside of the hose with some sealant before reassembly. I have found that this cures 95% of leaks at hose joints. I hope it holds cause that was altogether too much work for a pump that ought to have been put somewhere accessible.

Default 2003 A6 2.7t 6 speed manual - coolant leak

I have a slow leak that is not readily ascertainable. The cover on the bottom of the car seems to misdirect my impression of where the leak is actually coming from. From the top view, we cannot see anything dripping. Yet the leak is slow and steady usually draining out overnight when I park the car. (this is what makes me think it has something to do with the Aux. Water Pump.)

My car guy works on all kinds of imports and I trust his assessment of whether something needs to be done, but he looked at it and could not find where the leak was either. I suggested the Aux. Water Pump to him, but he said that he did not think that was it either. So we are stumped. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

I should mention that he recommended that I have the timing belt replaced, and I agree, so he will be doing that next weekend. My car has 106,000 miles. Should I tell him to change the water pump and the Aux. Water Pump since he is going to be accessing the timing belt anyway?

I really don't want to use a sealant, as it could interfere with the turbo. This is as frustrating as finding a needle in a hay stack. I would appreciate any suggestions.
