Considering buying 2000 A6--All Advice Welcome.
I'm going to test drive a 2000 A6 tonight. Here's a link: http://autos.nwsource.com/listingOve...EH24B1YN072911
I've read some serious horror stories about Audi repairs and, honestly, it's starting to scare the crap out of me. The car I'm looking at has 67k miles. If I like it, I'll definitely have itinspected pre-purchase. Anything else I should keep an eye out for or consider when I take a look tonight?
Also, what are some commonrepairs that used Audis need? I know some of you have owned Audis for years. Are they worth the extra repairs? Money isn't ahuge issue, but I don't want to be in the shop every month.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

A full inspection by a competent, knowledgeable independent shop is your best protection. And maybe investing in a carfax report to make sure it hasn't been underwater in New Orleans.
Two things to keep in mind: 1) It will need a timing belt replacement somewhere in the 80-90k range, which can cost $1000-1800. You may want to use that in your negotiations. 2) The specs show a 2.8l engine. It will be reasonably fuel efficient but don't expect great performance. There is little you can do to improve performance on this engine. However, you avoid the potential cost of turbo replacement that us 2.7T owners live with and you still have a very nice luxury touring car with AWD.

Thanks for the advice. I took the car for a test drive last night and am strongly considering making a purchase. The dealer is replacing the breaks today and if I choose to buy, I'll be getting a 3-year, 30k mile warranty.
Anyone else have anything to add?

Damn! I was all set to buy and had the numbers worked out (including 3-year warranty), but someone beat me to the punch while I was at work yesterday.
Back to the drawing board. I'm huge on the warranty which kind of limits my options for sellers.

for Christ's sake save yourself the trouble and just buy a 2.7t....you WILL catch the mod bug and when you do, you'll be pissed you bought the 2.8, which is like the retarded twin brother to the 2.7
