Clutch/gear change grating noise
Hi all.
I have an Audi A6 2.5TDI 1999 and it has been in storage for 6 months.
I am getting it back on the road now and took it for it's first little ride today.
I noticed that when I press the clutch down and change gear there is a bit of a grating noise like something spinning metal against metal. Almost like something needs oiling etc... The noise isn't very harsh like cogs grinding against cogs. More like a metal surface rubbing against metal. I may be totally wrong but that is what it sounds like.
This never occurred before and I wonder if it's because the car hasn't been used for a while.
This noise only occurs when I am approximately in the 2,500 revs range and over. The noise doesn't occur if I am just changing gear and trundling along at lower speeds.
Is there anything I need to check as the car hasn't been used for so long?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
