Climate Control swap

Climate Control swap
As some of us have experienced, the black paint on the soft-touch buttons on the climate control unit in the 2002 Audi A6 tends to fade out/off. Mine got so bad that I decided to buy another unit and swap it with the old faded one. The old climate control unit works great, but the faded buttons are just too unsightly.
So last week I found a like-new unit on eBay with the same part # as the one in my car (Part #4B0 820 043AD) and bought it.
Swapping the CC unit was a breeze, but the new one i put in blows NO cold air! It is in great condition (like-new) but just doesn't blow any cold air. I took out the new one and replaced it with the old one and got crisp, cold air like before. I swapped them again: no cold air from the new one.
My question: is there a code that needs to be reset on the new CC unit to have it work correctly? I'm convinced the new unit is in good condition, and may just need a reset to match the settings on the old one.
Thanks for reading!

Me again.. lol
I've been looking around the internets and stumbled accross this possible solution: Use VAG-COM: HVAC Module -> Basic Settings -> Group 001.
I don't have the VAG-COM tool, but I guess this shd do it.
